SWEDE HOLLOW PARK - NATIVE TREE AND PRAIRIE PLANTING
GRG and the city of Saint Paul's Parks and Recreation Division have worked closely with several neighborhood groups to conduct restoration activities to complement the natural value of this historic neighborhood park. With the Friends of Swede Hollow, the Upper Swede Hollow Neighborhood Association and other community volunteers, Greening and Parks have done three plantings of native forest and prairie species and removed exotic species in this steep ravine tucked in the East Side of Saint Paul. Community efforts are under way to protect and restore an adjacent former railroad industrial site into city park property to create a natural link between Swede Hollow Park and the Mississippi River.
