Buckthorn Bust in Freedom Park

Help restore Freedom Park’s rare bluff prairie threatened by non-native invasive buckthorn and overabundant native sumac in Prescott, WI. Join us at the event for one or both days on Friday, February 2 or Saturday, February 3 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Volunteers will cut, stack, and haul the invasive species. This event is recommended for anyone older than 18 years old. The event site is steep and there will be snow! Please wear appropriate attire, sturdy boots, and bring thick work gloves. All tools will be provided.

Lunch, snacks, coffee and water will be provided.

  • Difficulty level of restoration task: Moderate to heavy!
  • Open to ages 18+.
  • The hillside is steep.
